Arsenal are chasing Bayer Leverkusen keeper Bernd Leno.
The Gunners, whose transfers are being overseen by director of recruitment Sven Mislintat, are looking for a long-term replacement for Petr Cech.
The 26-year-old has come through the ranks at the Bayer Arena and is now hotly-tipped to go to the World Cup as Germany’s number one.
Joachim Loew’s regular shot-stopper, Manuel Neuer has picked up an injury and looks set to miss out.
That leaves Leno as one of the options for Loew and the Gunners who will be interested that the player has a buy-out clause.
That has been set at around €25m – around £22m – which means he will offer good value given that he has over 200 first-team appearances in the Bundesliga under his belt.
Cech, who will celebrate his 36th birthday next week, has just one year left to run on his current deal and finding a top-class replacement is high on the club’s list of priorities this summer.
