Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal’s interest in Watford skipper Troy Deeney has advanced, with reports saying they have entered talks with Watford regarding a transfer to the Emirates.
The 27-year-old came up as a surprise target for the gunners last week, and with Wenger promising one or two signings in ten days, the gunners have now made their move and opened negotiations for the former Walsall man who has worked his way up the English football strata.
Troy Deeney has formed a fantastic partnership with Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo, with the pair leading the Hornets up from the Championship to the Premier League. They have quickly adapted to the Premier League, with the pair forming one of the most potent striking partnership in the league, notching up 21 only goals among themselves this season.
He would have a battle to displace Olivier Giroud, but a record of 72 goals in three and a half seasons for Watford means he would be a very good goal-scoring backup for Giroud.
Arsenal have proceeded to make enquiries about his asking price and availability for a January transfer.
