Arsenal have been told they need to smash their transfer record if they want to land key summer target.
Gonzalo Higuain could become Arsenal’s transfer record signing.
According to Napoli chief, Arsenal will need to smash their transfer record to sign Higuain this summer, after a whooping £67million price tag has been slapped on the striker.
The former Real Madrid striker, who is currently away on international duties with Argentina at the Copa America in Chile, has been heavily linked to Arsenal in recent weeks.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is in search of a clinical forward, and has added the Napoli hitman to his summer transfer wish-list as he looks to push for a serious title challenge next season.
The 27-year-old star has made it clear he wants to leave Napoli this summer, after the club narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification, making him the perfect Arsenal target.
However, Partenopei chief Nicolas Lombardo insists the Argentine will not move for less than his release clause
‘Napoli are keen to make an official clarification based on some newspapers’ claims in articles about the potential transfer of Higuain,’ said Lombardo.
‘The club stresses that the Argentine has an existing contract clause of €94,736,000 (£67m). No bids below that figure will be accepted, those who want the player will have to match that valuation.’
