Arsenal are clear to sign Paris Saint-Germain misfit Goncalo Guedes, according to reports in Spain. Guedes, 21, completed a move from Benfica to PSG last January but only made 13 appearances for the Ligue 1 giants before being sent on loan to Valencia.
It’s understood the Gunners are hopeful of landing Guedes and the Arsene Wenger has reportedly been offered the chance to sign the £31million-rated midfielder.
Marca suggests PSG are eager to move Guedes on in the January transfer window as they are under Financial Fair Play pressure to sell following the arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
Valencia are also keen on signing the young Portugal international on a permanent deal. Guedes is out of contract at the Parc des Princes at the end of the 2017/18 campaign.
Last month, Guedes’ father hinted that his son could stay on at Valencia for another year. He told RTP: ‘Any player likes to be at the best clubs and play in the best competitions ‘At Valencia, Goncalo just needs to play in the Champions League and there’s a good feeling about that.
‘He loves the city and the club, maybe he can stay another year. The performances are still good and we hope they will go even further.
‘At this moment I think it will be difficult to go back to Paris, because they have more evolved players and my son is still in his development phase.’
