Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is believed to be asking wages of £330,000 a week to make his move to Barcelona in January.

The 29-year-old – formerly of Barca’s arch rivals Real Madrid – is out of the deal at the Emirates at the end of this campaign and has refused to land fresh terms, despite the North Londoners reportedly offering him around double his modern weekly wage of £140,000.

In recent days it has been claimed that Barcelona have made Arsenal an offer of £17m to bring the German to Camp Nou in January, seeing him as a cut-price option to Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho.

As reported by the Catalunya Radio, Ozil’s officials are asking a pay packet of £330,000 a week if he agrees to the move, as well as the promise of a three-year deal and many add-ons and bonuses.

A different report has cast doubt on the possible transfer, however, claiming that Barca attacker Lionel Messi has directed the club not to bring in Ozil due to interests over his commitment and work ethic.
