Thomas Lemar wants a move to the Emirates stadium this summer, after Arsenal stepped up its interest in his services.
Monaco rejected a £30m bid from Arsenal on Wednesday, insisting the playmaker isn’t for sale at any price but that hasn’t deterred Wenger.
The Gunners had made Lemar a priority target to replace Alexis Sanchez who is being linked with other clubs and Wenger is prepared to push Monaco for the winger.
According to Football London, Arsenal have now made a new bid worth £35m for the midfielder, despite Monaco insisting they don’t want to lose any other player from their title winning squad.
This will definitely not be the last we will hear about this, as French publication RMC claim the playmaker is now desperate to join Arsenal, although they admitted he is not going to force a move away from the principality club, meaning Arsenal would have to do everything possible to reach an agreement with Monaco.
His records of 14 goals and 17 assists in all competitions last season has placed him on the radar of so many big clubs, not just Arsenal.
Tottenham maintain a strong interest in the winger while Chelsea are believed to be watching his situation with keen interest.
It remains to be seen whether this will develop into a full blown transfer saga as the transfer window progresses or not, but Arsenal would do itself a lot of good avoiding such scenario.
