Arsenal target Goncalo Guedes has apparently ruled out a move to the Emirates in the winter transfer window.

The Portuguese youngster have been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks with Wenger said to have sent scouts to watch the striker on numerous occasions.

The winger has been impressive since breaking into Benfica’s first team, he has been tipped to become the next big thing in Portuguese football and is already drawing comparisons to Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Reports claim Wenger has been impressed by the winger’s talent and he is seriously interested in signing him despite his £52m release clause.

However, we will have to wait until next summer as the forward has now ruled out a move in the January transfer window. He insists he is happy at Benfica and will not think of leaving should we firm up our interest in the winter.

“I’m not thinking about leaving in January,” he said.

“Benfica are the club of my heart and I’m focused on playing for them.

“All games are important, we want to win the three points but we know that the Champions League is a very demanding competition.”

Guedes has proven to be a rare gem amongst his peers and was nominated for the 2016 golden boy award.

Manchester United are said to be interested in Guedes, having watched him in action recently. His fine form is what attracted the Old Trafford club and should he continue to impress, more clubs will join the race to sign him.

I’d love us to swoop for the youngster as soon as possible to avoid entering a bidding war for his services but his latest comments will make things more difficult for us.
