Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta has revealed his displeasure at the lack of game time coming his way. The midfielder originally lost his place in the starting line-up to Francis Coquelin during the course of last season but has now even failed to return to the first team despite Coquelin’s injury.
He has now fallen even behind the impressive Flamini in the perking order. The arrival of Mohamamed Elneny from FC Basel means the Spaniard will have to sit out even more games.
The midfielder was asked if he still had a role to play following the signing of Elneny.
“I hope so. I am back now and have been training hard and obviously I need to wait for my chance,” he said via tribal football.
“It is not easy when you have to come from the bench but that is the situation at the moment.”
Clubs have understandably started showing interest in Arteta with West ham United preparing a shock bid for Arteta. The hammers are believed to be the market for an experienced midfielder as they chase a place in Europe in the second half of the season.
A combination of injuries and form has seen the midfielder make just 10 appearances across all competitions for the Gunners this season.
Arteta, 33, signed for the Gunners on deadline day in 2011 in a £10 million deal from Everton.
