Real Madrid are preparing a shock move to sign Aaron Ramsey, according to reports.

Ramsey is already into the penultimate year of his contract at the Emirates and there has been no indication from club chiefs that a new contract for the midfielder is in the offing.

The midfielder’s contract situation at Arsenal has reportedly alerted Zinedine Zidane who is keen to take advantage of the situation.

Arsenal appear to be focused on extending the contracts of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez who are also into the last 24 months of their contracts but talks with the duo have taken longer than expected which could be part of the reason the likes of Ramsey is yet to be offered fresh terms.

According to The Sun via The Daily Star, Real Madrid are preparing a bid for Ramsey who will have just one year left in his contract next summer.

The Spanish club are lining up a cut-price £25m bid to lure the Welshman away from the Emirates

This news wouldn’t go down well with Gooners as Ramsey has developed into a key player for us in recent years and the prospect of losing a player like him is frightening.

However, there is a bit of hope that the Spanish giant’s attempt to sign the midfielder will not come to fruition.

The report claims a move for Ramsey depends on the out come of the transfer ban which was placed on Madrid.

They will not be allowed to sign a player until the summer of 2018, meaning they can only make a move for Ramsey next summer if the ban is overturned, which I think is unlikely to happen.

Barcelona served the same punishment for a similar offense, so I don’t think Madrid will be allowed to go free. Hence, there is no way they can sign Ramsey.

Ramsey has played more than 200 games for Arsenal since he joined us in 2008 and is expected to remain a key member of the squad for many more years to come.
