Galatasaray have been in talks with Arsenal over a deal for midfielder Mohamed Elneny, according to reports in Turkey.

Mohamed Elneny joined Arsenal last summer from Swiss side Basel but has struggled to hold down a regular place in Arsene Wenger’s starting XI.

The Egypt international started just 12 games in all competitions last term for the Gunners who are reportedly attempting to offload him.
The north London club were said to have agreed terms with Leicester for the 25-year-old last week before he rejected the move.

And reports in Turkey are now suggesting Galatasaray have been in talks with Arsenal over a potential deal for the midfielder.

Turkish outlet Fotospor claim Galatasaray sporting director Cenk Ergun arrived in London yesterday and has already begun negotiations with the Gunners.

He is reportedly keen to get a deal done for the midfielder as his other transfers have fallen through.

The Itstanbul club were also in for Stoke and West Ham midfielders Giannelli Imbula and Sofiane Feghouli.

However, Imbula is reportedly set to join Nice, while Feghouli is also on his way to Ligue 1 with Rennes.

Elneny is not the only Arsenal player attracting attention from Turkey, with Antalyaspor confirming their interest in Jack Wilshere this week.

“We made an enquiry and are in talks but Arsenal want a lot for Wilshere,” Antalyaspor president Ali Safak Ozturk said.

“It will be a difficult move to pull off.”

Elneny is under contract at the Emirates until June 2020, while Wilshere has just 12 months left to run on his current deal.
