Arsenal could miss out on Galatasaray winger Bruma, after the Turkish club kicked off efforts to convince the player to sign a contract extension.
Bruma’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign and Premier League clubs including Arsenal were looking to take advantage of his contractual situation in the new year.
It was thought that the Turkish giants will be open to the idea of selling the player for a relatively cheap fee in January instead of losing him for free next summer but that appears not to be the case.
Bruma’s agent Catio Balde landed interested clubs a huge blow when he revealed last weekend that he was set to begin talks with Galatasaray on Monday to discuss a contract extension for his client.
“We will on Monday discuss the conditions offered for a renewal of the current contract”, Balde told O’ Jogo last weekend [Via Inside Futbol].
Bruma is rated as one of Portugal’s most talented midfielders and it is not surprising he is attracting this amount of interest. Should he sign a new long term deal at Galatasaray, interested clubs will have to look elsewhere or pay more as the Turkish club will likely demand an exorbitant fee for the playmaker afterwards.
Bruma has been involved in seven of Galatasaray’s goals (four goals and three assists) this season, which is impressive for a winger. He definitely will be a great addition to our squad and i’m sure we will continue to keep tabs on his situation but a contract renewal might just be enough to end our interest.
