Arsene Wenger says it’s too early to assess whether Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will miss the FA Cup final.

Oxlade-Chamberlain limped off during the first half of Wednesday night’s 2-0 win at Southampton with a hamstring injury and was replaced by Hector Bellerin.

With the cup final against Chelsea less than three weeks away, the England international is in a race against time to be ready for the Wembley showpiece.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s absence would be a major blow to us given his form since the turn of the year, but Wenger was remaining hopeful when quizzed on whether the midfielder would be ready for May 27th.

“It’s difficult to assess now after the game,” said the Arsenal boss.

“He walks properly. It was tight, but it was not a knife.

“I didn’t see any incident where he had to stop in a sprint. It was more fatigue.”

Wenger added: “It’s a hamstring problem, but we don’t know how bad it is.”
