Alexis Sanchez has revealed he is enjoying his role as a centre forward for Arsenal this season.

At the beginning of the season, Wenger switched Alexis Sanchez to the centre forward position to the surprise of many and so far, it appears the boss made the right decision.

Arsenal was without a recognised striker at the beginning of the season, Giroud’s extended summer break and our inability to sign a striker early on in the transfer window meant Wenger had to adapt. He opted to play Sanchez upfront which seem to be bringing the best out of the Chilean.

The striker has already scored six Premier League goals this season, provided many assists and he appears to be enjoying himself. He believes Wenger’s decision to play him upfront is making the most of his qualities.

“I like it as a centre forward because I can get involved in the play more,” Sanchez told the club’s official website , prior to the international break.

“I have the chance to drop deep a little bit more and that means I can link up with my team-mates more.

“[The manager] is the one who decides, he’s the one who changes things around and decides where we play.

“He asked me to play there so I said fine – I looked up some videos on the internet to see how I needed to adjust my movement and I’ve been adapting since then.”

The news that Sanchez is enjoying his football will excite Gooners as it erases any doubt about his happiness at the Emirates.

Hopefully, his happiness on the pitch will persuade him to sign a contract extension with us and stay here for a long time.

The Chilean is into the final 18 months of his contract but is yet to agree a new deal. Reports claim Sanchez is demanding the inclusion of a release clause in his new deal which will give him an escape route out of the club and we are unwilling to do that.
