Another £2M Signing? Arsenal Send Scouts To Watch La Liga Target.

Despite letting some players go on loan this window, Arsenal are still looking to bolster their attacking options and reports according to Express, have it that officials from the Emirates have gone out to Spain to get first hand view of one of the La Liga’s quickly rising stars, Edgar Mendez.

Almeria are within the dangerous regions of the La Liga and are one of the favorites for the drop and it’s been though that the 23-year old star could show more than the 3 goals he’s scored after 17 games this season. He is blessed with enormous stretches of pace and energy and could be available this January for as little as £2m, if the Arsenal officials see enough to convince Wenger to take action.

Perhaps the scouts may not have been overly impressed with him at Almeria’s defeat to Valencia on Saturday but the Spanish youngster is highly rated as one winger who could go on and get himself a very successful career in the near future. He’s had to go through a series of moves right from is first acquaintance with the lower teams at Real Madrid back in 2007.

At the moment, there appears to be a good number of capable wingers at Wenger’s disposal with Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain even in a potential battle for the right side, although a case could be made for Alexis Sanchez not have a real deputy on the left side.

The Chilean has been an absolute workhorse since arriving from Barcelona last summer and it does seem that Wenger could find his suitable understudy from the same La Liga. Mendez’s pace has been likened to that of Gareth Bale and if he shows as much dedication to team work as Alexis does, the fee being talked of could be piece of cake after all.

Is it a concern that the club has been linked more with bargain deals rather than a top-shelf signing? The Arsenal board are believed to have made available £20m for the winter business, and perhaps it could be the reason why Wenger has limited his searchlight to deals that won’t cost much of a shakeup in the bank balance.
