Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal transfer target, Victor Wanyama has stated that he is not ready to force a move away from Southampton amidst rumours of interest from Tottenham, Manchester United and Arsenal.
The Kenyan international handed in a transfer request last summer in a bid to force a move away from Saint Mary to White Hart lane, a move which did not go down well with the supporters and fans of the West Coast club alike.
Wanyama moved to the Premier League from Scottish side Celtic and has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the league. He currently has 18 months left on his contract with the Saints and with Premier League sides making a move for him; he prefers to let his football on the pitch do the talking for him.
Arsenal have been in the market for a new defensive midfielder since the transfer window opened. The Gunners are yet to officially announce the capture of Mohamed Elneny from Basel and are looking to make further signings since they currently have a long injury list in the midfield section.
Currently, Gunners first choice midfield pairing, Santi Carzola and Francis Coquelin are on the treatment table; while Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky have barely featured for the table toppers this term.
Wanyama would have been the best option to marshal the Gunners midfield in Coquelin and Carzola’s absence but they will have to wait till the summer to secure a deal.
