Manchester United may have indeed won the race to sign want-away Arsenal and Germany star, Mesut Ozil.
Reports from England indicate that the star has no intentions of signing a new contract to extend his stay at the Emirates stadium, and that Arsenal are now prepared to sell him for a cut-price fee of £20m in January, to avoid losing him for free when his current contract expires next summer.
Skysports claimed that Man United Coach Jose Mourinho has been a long admirer of the German, while the player also reportedly relishes the prospect of working under the experienced Portuguese tactician.
Such dynamics could indeed give United the edge over other interested potential suitors in the race for the player’s signature, should he become available in January; even though a number of top clubs in England and abroad have since been on alert since the news of the player’s current contract situation at Arsenal got round.
Manchester United’s signing of a player of Ozil’s quality mid-way into the season could well alter the dynamics of the English premier league race; and this prospect appears increasingly likely to occur even as the days go by. The twenty million pound price tag Arsenal have reportedly placed on him is by no means a deterrent to a club as financially stable and ambitious as Manchester United, or even Chelsea and Inter Milan who are also looking to snap up the player if and when he becomes available.
