Arsenal chiefs are confident Arsene Wenger will stay beyond the current campaign, according to a report in Tribal Football.

Wenger’s future has been up in the air for some months following his refusal to sign a contract extension to his current deal which expires in June.

The French man has faced harsh criticism from fans in recent weeks after a run of poor form which has seen us lose four of our last five league games and drop 19 points behind league leaders Chelsea, although we’ve played a game less.

According to The Sun, Wenger isn’t showing any sign that the criticisms are getting to him.

The report claims Wenger hasn’t dropped any indication that he will not be in charge of Arsenal next season.

The French man has taken interest in our multi-million pound Hale End academy project and has been asking for updates about the site development. This has apparently convinced the club’s hierarchy that he will sign a new contract.

A large part of Arsenal fan base have turned against the manager and another protest calling for him to step down was staged at the 3-1 defeat to West Brom on Saturday.

The loss ended any hope of winning the league title and landed a huge blow to our chances of making the top four. Should Arsenal fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League, Wenger could have a rethink if he had already decided to sign a new contract.
