Barcelona and Real Madrid have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Monaco youngster Kylian Mbappe, according to reports.
Mbappe, 18, is highly rated at Monaco and is being tipped to follow the path of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry to become one of football’s greatest player.
He showed a glimpse of his quality when his team faced Manchester City last Tuesday and was very impressive on the night.
Few weeks ago, Wenger revealed we tried to sign the lad last summer but we were unsuccessful because Monaco weren’t prepared to sell him at any price.
According to The Independent, Arsenal are set to revive it’s interest in the youngster in the next transfer window.
However, we will face competition from European heavyweights Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona which will make him one of the most sought-after players next summer.
Also, he isn’t expected to come cheap as Monaco are prepared to demand more than what they got for Anthony Martial in 2015.
Martial joined Manchester United for a fee of €50m plus €30m add ons. Mbappe’s transfer fee could surpass that figure, with his total fee expected to reach €90m.
Now this is where Arsenal fans have to worry a little. The Gunners have never paid such huge amount of money on a player and it’s unlikely we’d start with Mbappe who is just at the beginning of his career.
