Arsenal chief scout Luis Boa Morte was present at FC Porto’s game against Belenenses last weekend to watch Andre Silva.
The 20 year old striker has been one of Porto’s best players this term and apparently, his form has caught Wenger’s attention.
Over the last few weeks, reports in Portugal have heavily linked the striker with a move to the Emirates and it appears we are actually keen on his services.
According to record via Gunnersphere, Arsenal chief scout Boa Morte watched Silva in action for FC Porto last weekend.
The striker played the full 90 minutes of the game but was unable to help his team secure victory.
It wasn’t the first time a representative from Arsenal was watching the striker, our scouts have been present at Porto’s game on more than one occasions to watch the lad but for Morte to go run the rule over him personally, it goes a long way to suggest we hold a concrete interest in signing him.
We will continue to monitor the striker’s development in view to making a move in the future but he is not expected to come cheap as he has a £52.5m release clause in his current deal.
Wenger is reportedly keen on bringing a young striker into the club and Silva represents a quality option. However, we would face serious competition to sign the young man as we are not the only ones interested in his services.
Scouts from Manchester United, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, Celtic and Sporting Lisbon were also present at the game last weekend to watch the striker.
