Arsene Wenger is set to sign a new one year deal at Arsenal, according to The Express.

Wenger’s contract expires at the end of the season but has so far refused to give any indication if he will sign a new deal or not.

The manager has never been under the kind of pressure he currently is in his twenty years in charge of the club and it was believed he could decide to step down at the end of the season.

Some fans have made life tough for the French man, with a section of the supporters staging protests after protests calling for him to leave the club.

Despite the unrest in the crowd, Arsenal hierarchy made it clear to Wenger that they wanted him to stay by offering him a new two year deal which has been on the table since January.

But Wenger has now reached an agreement with the club to extend his contract by one year.

The report claims Wenger is reluctant to leave the Emirates after spending more than two decades at the club. You wouldn’t blame him as Arsenal have become a part and parcel of him, hence the reason he’s decided to stay for one more season.

I think his decision to stay is a good idea, it will give us enough time to prepare for his exit and not rush into making a decision that could jeopardize our future as a club.

Manchester United have only begun to recover from sir Alex Ferguson’s exit and we have to learn from that.

Replacing a manager who has stayed long at a club isn’t something to be done unprepared and it’s a good thing Wenger has decided to stay even though it may annoy some fans.
