Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had said prior to the acquisition of Mohamamed Elneny that the midfielder could well be the only signing for the Gunners during the winter window.
That was met with some resistance by the Gunners faithful, as the fans felt they needed more firepower to aid the club’s title bid after being promised by Wenger that the club would be busy in the ongoing transfer window.
The declaration however seems to be typical Arsene Wenger trying to play down transfers. Tribal football reports that 18-year-old Chalton Atletic teenage forward Ademola Lookman remains on the radar of the Gunners.
Lookman, 18, joined Charlton’s academy in 2014 after signing from youth club Waterloo FC. His impressive showings for the youth sides finally saw him rewarded with his first team senior debut in November last year. The forward has gone on to make nine appearances for the Addicks netting three goals in the process.
Lookman, a player of immense potential has been a revelation since his debut and Charlton are understandably reluctant to part with the player. Addicks interim boss Karel Fraeye insisted Lookman is not leaving Chalton.
“Ademola is on a two-and-a-half year deal already,” Fraeye said last month.
“We are doing what we have to do. I think we are very close to where we want to be.
“Ademola has just started first-team football. He’s started very well but he’s got so many steps to take.
“I’m sure he won’t be sold in January and will be here in the long-term.
“He’s a smart boy and I think Charlton is a good club for him. If he is looking for a club to develop at, he’s at the best club for him and he knows that.”
