Arsenal could sign Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi for a cut-price fee this month, according to reports.
N’Zonzi has been in superb form for Sevilla this season and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed in the Premier League. The former Stoke City midfielder is now reportedly attracting interest from Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City but it is the Gunners who have been credited with the most interest.
Estadio Deportivo via the Daily Star has now revealed that Wenger could actually get his man for £26m this month.
The midfielder has a £26m release clause in his contract which could render Sevilla Powerless if activated.
Several reports have linked Arsenal with different central midfielders this month, claiming Wenger wants to strengthen that position ahead of the crucial part of the season and N’Zonzi is one name that has been constantly linked with us.
However, I don’t think Wenger would make such move this winter because personally I think the midfield is one of our strongest positions. We may be a bit light at the moment but in a couple of days, Elneny will be back from international duty while Xhaka’s suspension will be over and we will become strong again.
Wenger would definitely resist the temptation of making a move for N’Zonzi this month until the summer at least when he will have enough time to reshuffle the squad. The arrival of a new face now could cause unhealthy competition for places within the club.
