Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson is set to return to the Emirates, at the end of the current campaign, according to West Ham boss Slaven Billic, via Ibtimes.
The Gunner’s full back joined the East London side on a two year loan deal, but Bilic has confirmed that Jenkinson won’t be staying at Upton park beyond the current season.
West Ham have already signed a replacement for Jenkinson as they just completed the signing of highly rated Steve Bryam from Leeds United.
Bilic told reporters that Bryam would become a full first team member when Jenkinson is gone:
“He [Byram] is more for us for next season because at the
moment we have Carl Jenkinson and Arsenal said at beginning of season it’s his last season with us.”
“So we started looking to fill that gap. He [Byram] came now and it is only a plus, but I can’t tell you now when he’s going to play.”
Jenkinson moved on loan to West Ham when Matthieu Debuchy arrived at the Emirates, but with the French defender set to leave the Emirates this month, Wenger will be looking to bring the England defender back to the Emirates to provide competition for Hector Belerin who has been superb this season.
Jenkinson had a superb first season at West Ham where he quickly became a fan favourite.
