Arsenal have identified Red Bull Lepzig boss Ralph Hasenhuttl as a potential replacement to Arsene Wenger, according to reports.
Wenger’s future at Arsenal have been the subject of debate in recent months as the French man’s contract expires at the end of the season and he is yet to indicate whether he will sign a new deal or not.
The French man reportedly wants to wait until the last minute before he decides whether to renew his contract or not which could leave us with little or no time to find a perfect replacement should he step down.
Therefore it is not surprising to hear that Arsenal have started preparing for Wenger’s departure by lining up potential replacements.
AFC Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe was believed to be our first choice to replace Wenger but The Sun via The Daily Express claims Red Bull Lepzig boss Hasenhuttl has overtook Howe to top Arsenal’s wishlist.
Hasenhuttl’s team is currently topping the Bundesliga table ahead of Bayern Munich with three points.
The report claims Gazidis has been monitoring Hasenhuttl for more than two years and the chief believes he will fit into the style of play Wenger has established here in the last two decades.
The Bundesliga manager is reportedly open to the idea of moving to the Emirates someday, which should give us a huge boost but i think a move this summer will be too soon for him. Although I haven’t been following Hasenhuttl until this season, his team’s performances this term has been superb.
He has shown he is tactically intelligent and loves working with youngsters which makes him an ideal Wenger replacement but a few more years at Lepzig would put him in a better place for a big job like Arsenal.
