Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Chelsea have joined Arsenal in the race to sing Borussia Mochengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka, according to reports.
The Gunners have been linked with a move to sign the Swiss international and were reportedly preparing a summer bid for the central midfielder.
However, Bild via 101greatgoals reports that Chelsea and Bayern have joined the race to sign the 23 year old.
The Gunners are reportedly prepared to make a move for the midfielder next summer and with Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic struggling to impress at Stamford bridge, the Blues have now identified Xhaka as a potential target.
According to the report, the midfielder has a €30m in his contract with Borussia Mochengladbach and would be allowed to leave should that release clause be activated next summer.
Chelsea who have had a dismal campaign until date will be looking to rebuild their squad and since missing out of Europe is a big possibility for the Blue, they would do all they can to sign the midfielder ahead of the Gunners.
However Mochengladbach are already preparing for life without the midfielder with the Bundesliga side coach Eberl saying, he expects the player to leave next summer
Xhaka is a prominent member of Mochengladbach squad and is set to feature for Swithzerland in the European championships next summer.
