Arsenal have been told by Torino that it will take a huge bid worth €100m to sign Andrea Belotti.
Arsene Wenger has reportedly become a big admirer of the Italy international, after being impressed by his goal scoring form in the last couple of years.
It is claimed that the 23 year old is now Wenger’s top target to strengthen our attack and the boss is keeping tabs on his development in view to making a move in the future.
But Torino president Urbano Cairo has warned that it will take a huge fee to tempt them into selling the striker.
Belotti signed a new long term contract with Torino last year which has a release clause of €100m and the Serie A club insists that the clause must be activated in order to sign the striker.
‘We have a contract with Belotti until 2021 and the release clause says that when he leaves €100m will come in,’ Cairo said, as quoted by the Metro.
‘There is no written or verbal agreement that we’ll sell him if we don’t qualify for the Europa League.
‘He’s a top person as well as a top player and he’ll be the protagonist for us reaching the Europa League, either this year or next.
‘If you want to chatter then go ahead, but these are the facts.’
Belotti has scored 14 league goals for Torino, averaging 117 minutes per goal. His impressive stats have not only caught our attention but that of Chelsea’s as well.
It is very unlikely that Wenger will pay anything close to his release clause and should Torino be reluctant to negotiate a lower fee, we will definitely turn our attention elsewhere.
Despite Belotti’s talent and form, I wouldn’t advice paying that much for him. He hasn’t even tested himself outside the Serie A and there is no assurance he will be a big hit in the Premier League.
The style of play and the pace of the game here in England is very different which he may take time to adapt, no one would want to give a €100m signing much time to adapt.
