Arsenal legend Marc Overmars is currently on a similar position in Amsterdam and has moved to curb the rumours linking him with a return to London.
The former Netherland international has sought to distance himself from reports claiming that he is poised to take a director of football role at north London club.
Several sources have reported that the former Gunners attacker will return to Emirates Stadium at the end of the 2017-18 season.
He is, however, currently filling a directorial position at Ajax, having taken that job back in summer of 2012.
Overmars’s current contract with Ajax expires in 2020 and has offered no indication that he intends to break that agreement.
“I’m very happy at Ajax,” the former Netherlands international told NOS.
“There’s nothing happening with other clubs.”
Arsenal have been heavily linked with an approach for Overmars as they seek to bring in a new figurehead to oversee transfer policy.
Dick Law had filled that role for them, but it was revealed in in the last month that he was to return to his native United States for personal reasons.
Premier League club are eager to fill that void, with several candidates reported.
While Overmars has distanced himself from a switch to his former club, Arsene Wenger has also remained coy when quizzed on the possibility of a deal being done:
“He is director of Ajax at the moment,”
“We have been in touch, but not at the moment, no.”
