Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsene Wenger has made an offer to move into pole position in the race to sign teenage left back Ben Chilwell from Premier League title rivals Leicester City.
With first choice left back Nacho Monreal turning 30 next month, the Gunners had been monitoring the defender, who is also capable of playing on the right, for a while and were waiting for the right time to lodge their offer.
The Gunners were hopeful of landing Chilwell in the upcoming summer window when the teenager would have just 12 months left on his current contract. However the news of Foxes considering a sale having been unable to tie the England U21 international down to a long-term deal has led the Gunners to act.
According to the Mirror via HTC Sport, Arsenal have launched a fresh bid for Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell having had a £3 million bid rejected last summer.
Chilwell, 19, was very impressive on loan at Championship side Huddersfield earlier in the season before being recalled by Leicester boss Ranieri. The defender has so far made just three cup appearances for Leicester this season amongst which was a commanding display when handed a start in an FA cup tie at Tottenham and was then commended by his manager.
“He had a very great match against Spurs, he was sure and outstanding. I am very surprised with how well he played, but that is what I wanted”.
