Arsenal could join the race to sign Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, according to reports.
The Sweden defender was heavily linked with a January move to Manchester United in January but a switch failed to come into fruition.
The 22 year old has been impressive for his club this season and has attracted interests from a number of big clubs including Juventus and Man United.
And it seems Arsenal will now join them in the race to sign the defender.
According to The Daily Cannon, Arsenal had a representative present at Benfica’s game against Belenenses to watch Lindelof in action.
However, Arsenal’s chances of signing the defender will depend on how willing we are prepared to spend big.
The defender signed a new five year deal with his club earlier this month with a £60m release clause and we will be expected to trigger the clause if we are to have any chance of signing him.
As a result, I don’t expect Lindelof to join us this summer because Wenger won’t be so stupid enough to pay as much as his release clause to bring him here.
Yes, he is very talented but obviously isn’t worth his clause and it would take a very desperate club to pay that much this summer. He may be worth it in a few years, until then.
