With the 2014/2015 season drawing to a close in a matter of weeks, managers and clubs have started making transfer plans ahead of the summer.

Reports making the rounds now per the Metro, are suggesting that Arsenal have reignited their interest in Gonzalo Higuain.

The former Real Madrid striker was once a target for Arsene Wenger in 2013 and was close to sealing a move to the Emirates Stadium before the deal reportedly broke down.

It was an incident that saw the Argentine International move to Napoli in July 2013 for €37 million.

The report also claims Wenger has been given the green light for talks to begin over the transfer of the 27-year-old. And Wenger is said to be excited over the big money deal reported to be in the region of £28.9 million to land Higuain.

Higuain has scored 22 goals and assisted a further 6 times in all competitions for Napoli so far this season and is also a target for a host of Europe’s elite clubs including Liverpool and Manchester United.

Arsenal have a good number of strikers at the moment. I am sure that Podolski will be sold this summer, and acquisition of a new striker does not bode very well for Joel Campbell and Theo Walcott. I will hate for both of them to be sold, specially Walcott, but I don’t really see any sense in spending heaps of money on a luxury striker. The deal for Welbeck was not really warranted as he has only displayed why United let him leave. Arsenal should have given a chance to Afobe. No need to buy Higuain now. They should have bought him when their bid for Suarez was rejected.
