Metersacker insists the defeat so Swansea City on Wednesday is “not the end of the world” and has urged the team to recover quickly ahead of the game against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, via goal.
Going into the game against Swansea, six points behind league leaders Leicester City, we needed to get all three points in order to get our title race back on track. However, we slipped to a 2-1 loss against the Swans leaving us in a tight position, six points behind Leicester City with 10 games left to be played.
Metersacker believes the team was Nervous during the late stages of the game, the reason we couldn’t get anything out of it.
He said : “We tried really hard.”
“The effort was there tonight. We played quite well but always missed the last pass and hit the post a couple of times, but it’s not the end of the world.
“We wanted a better result than against Manchester United, but it was the small margins that cost us.
“We lost the game on one set piece and we needed to defend better. You could feel that we were nervous out there at the end of the game.
“We have to recover quickly before Saturday and that’s the only thing we are thinking of.”
The team will travel to face Local rivals Tottenham on Saturday lunch time kickoff in a game that could get us back on track or finally see our title hopes completely dashed.
