Olivier Giroud is planning to leave Arsenal in “one or two seasons”, according to reports.
The French striker who has lost his place in the starting xi to Alexis Sanchez was recently linked with a summer move to Marseille.
Despite the link emanating from a so called credible source, I always thought a move away from the Emirates this summer was always unlikely to happen for the striker because he just signed a new deal with Arsenal in January.
Le10sport via Sport Witness has now confirmed that the player will remain at Arsenal for a couple more years and that return to France isn’t on his agenda.
The report added that there was no truth in the Giroud-Marseille links as the club doesn’t feature in the player’s plans neither does the striker feature in Marseille’s plans.
Instead Giroud is planning to move to the Major League Soccer or the Chinese Super League after next season or two.
Giroud has been a first team regular for us since he joined in 2012 but has found himself more on the bench this season because of Sanchez’s performances upfront.
With reports making the rounds that Wenger has made signing a top striker his priority this summer, Giroud could face a tougher battle to reclaim a first team spot next season, which could hasten his move to China or America.
The French man has scored twelve goals and provided six assists in 12 starts this season despite losing his place in the starting line up.
