According to Arsenal legend Ian Wright, Marco Silva would be a great contender to take over from Arsene Wenger at the Emirates in 2019.

The French tactician has faced a lot of questions about his managerial future over the past 2 years following the Gunners continued regression under him.

However, the Arsenal boss was able to survive at the club despite missing out on UEFA Champions League football for the very first time under his tutelage.

Arsene Wenger did lead Arsenal to their third English FA Cup win in four years to make the former AS Monaco manager the most successful tactician in the cup competition.

Arsene Wenger, 67, signed a new contract with the gunners in the summer that will expire in 2018-19 campaign despite a disappointing English Premier League season.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone and AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe in the past 2 years or so.

However, former Gunner Ian Wright suggested Watford manager Silva could be a great contender to replace the Frenchman.

Quizzed whether the Watford boss could replace Wenger at Arsenal, he answered Absolutely, without a doubt.

He said Silva is one of those tacticians you feel is destined for greatness, and admitted he is hoping his side can keep him for only two years.
