Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin has hailed the amount of quality in Arsenal’s first team.
The midfielder who was a mainstay in Wenger’s team last season believes no one is guaranteed a spot in the starting xi this term.
Wenger strengthened the midfield, defense and attacking department during the summer transfer window and Coquelin believes there will now be “interesting competition” for places in the starting xi.
Arsenal are well stocked in midfield after the arrival of Granit Xhaka and Coquelin believes the Switzerland international is a great addition.
“There is loads of competition [for places], but I think that’s a good thing,” Coquelin told the club’s official website.
“Obviously we are Arsenal, so we expect competition and a player comes in every year, so it is a great addition.
“Granit came this year, and I think he is a great addition to the squad.
“Mohamed came in January, and I think he has done well. No one really knew him before he came here, but he has shown how good he is. It is going to be an interesting competition in the middle.”
Coquelin started in the 2-1 win against Southampton on Saturday afternoon and will be hoping he has done enough to keep his place in the starting xi next weekend.
