Arsenal have brought in Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac this summer while Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are still at the club – for now. But Arsenal legend Perry Groves insists these are not the best transfer decision the club has made this summer.
The 52-year old admits that bringing in Lacazette and Kolasinac have been wonderful business so far, but added that Arsenal’s most “underrated signing” this summer was the addition of Jens Lehman to the coaching staff.
Groves added: “I think it’s been a successful transfer window. We’ve bought a proven goalscorer in Lacazette who, with the team we have, should be getting at least 20-25 goals this season.
“He looks strong on the ball, with good link up play but is most lethal inside the six yard box, which we’ve missed for a long time.
“It will take him a while to settle in, with new teammates but he looks physically capable of succeeding.
“Kolasinac is a beast, very strong and creates a lot of chances as we saw in the Emirates Cup.
“There’s no doubt there’s still work to be done, we need another two players at least – both first team players.
“I think the most underrated signing this summer was adding Jens Lehmann to the coaching staff. He’s got a no-nonsense character, he’s a winner and will certainly give the team a kick if they need it.”
