Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright doesn’t think the Gunners need to sign a striker this winter transfer window.
The likes of Andrea Belotti, Andre Silva have been linked with a move to the Emirates as Wenger searches a young striker to bolster the squad but Wright believes that shouldn’t happen this month.
Although Wenger has already ruled out signing a striker due to the return of Danny Welbeck but that hasn’t stopped the media from linking us to other strikers.
And after watching Arsenal’s FA Cup game against Preston last weekend, Wright said Wenger has enough options available to him to see us through the rest of the season.
“I think at the moment they have enough for now to maintain a challenge, Wright said, as quoted by Sport Review.
“They’ve got Lucas Perez as well, who had a half-decent game at Preston.
“Hopefully Danny [Welbeck] will remain fit until the end of the season because he will definitely contribute goals to this team.”
Wright does have a point actually and it’s definitely going to be difficult for us to sign a quality striker this winter as most clubs won’t want to lose their star player mid-season.
But should a great opportunity arise, we must not look at the number of options we have at the moment as a limitation.
The number of top strikers available in the market these days are limited, so if the opportunity to sign one arises, we should make the most of it as there is no guarantee we would get another opportunity.
