Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on bolstering his side in the January transfer window for the second half of the 2015/2016 season.
Arsene Wenger’s wish of signing a new striker this winter window seems to have taken another hit with the loss of yet another target in Corinthians striker Alexander Pato. The Brazilian is believed to be closing in on a move to rivals Chelsea.
The striker had admitted that he adored the Premier league and would be interested in a move to England from his homeland, he said “One day I knew I would like to come to England because I think the championship is the number one in the world. It is very competitive. ‘I like the emotion in the English league. You look at the TV and you see the stadium and the fans. I remember that when we played Arsenal, they were very strong and very fast. My special thing is my speed. I’m fast. I think that’s good because the football here is very quick.
‘I don’t think the physical part of English football would be a problem. When you get the ball, you need to be ready. The defenders here are very tough but I like that.
‘I have spoken to Willian, Firmino, Coutinho and David Luiz before. I think Brazilian players can play here. You mix talent and intelligence and Brazilian players can play here.”
That led to race between Arsenal and other top Premier sides vying for his signature, a battle Chelsea seem to have won.
Football fancast reports that Pato’s agents were in London to finalise a deal with the Blues. While Corinthians manager Tite had this to say when questioned about the transfer “Maybe in two or three days, you journalists will have an answer about Pato. A response from me won’t be needed.”
