Arsenal target Sébastien Corchia has declared his intention to move to the Premier League.
Earlier in the week, reports surfaced that the striker was on Arsenal’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window. The right back position is one Wenger may need to strengthen if he loses Hector Bellerin to Barcelona and Corchia is said to be one of those names lined up as a potential replacement.
Southampton, Napoli, Sevilla and Paris Saint Germain are also said to be interested in the defender but it appears it is the English sides who have an advantage in the race for his signature.
When asked about Arsenal’s interest in his services in a recent interview, the defender stopped short of being specific but revealed he is keen on a move to the Premier League.
“I can’t mention any names of course, that is confidential, and my agent knows more than I do. But yes, I have heard of interest from the Premier League.
“It is of course very interesting.
“It is an amazing league, and normally French players do well there. Maybe because our Ligue 1 is also very physical, so it is not a huge change to go there in that way, which may scare players from other countries not so used to the physical aspect.
“Generally it is always flattering to feel the interest of other big clubs – and proof, that people have seen and appreciated my performances and development.”
Corchia is keen on a move away from Ligue 1 so he can boost his chances of making France’s 2018 World Cup squad. A move to the Emirates would help him boost his chances but we aren’t sure of making a move for him just yet. Our interest will be dependent on Bellerin’s future.
