Celta Vigo forward Nolito has revealed he could have moved to England in the winter transfer window, via Tribal football.
The Gunners were linked with a move to sign the striker in the last winter transfer window with some report even suggesting the Gunners were ready to trigger the forward’s release clause in January. But a move didn’t happen as the player chose to remain in Spain.
Nolito has now revealed that he decided against a move away from Celta because he was happy at the Spanish club and was more importantly interested in performing for Celta in order to make Spain’s Euro 16 team.
Speaking to Radio MARCA, he said: “In December I had offers from England, China, Russia, Dubai… but I’m happy at Celta and I want to play at the Euros.
“The Celta president told me that he wouldn’t sell me. I said to him that’s just fine by me.”
The player increased speculation regarding his future at that point when he liked a post on Instagram linking him with a move to the Emirates.
Barcelona were also rumoured to be interested but Celta weren’t keen on doing business with the La Liga giants.
Nolito has scored 9 goals and created 6 others for his teammates and has helped his team to seventh on the La Liga table.
