West Ham United are leading the race to sign Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson, according to reports.
Jenkinson is expected to leave the Emirates in the winter transfer window and as many as four clubs have already lined up for his services.
West Ham, Aston Villa, Hull City and Swansea City are the clubs interested in the defender but it is West Ham who are ahead in the race for his services.
Few days ago, it was thought that Villa were leading the race to sign the 24 year old but the Birmingham Mail claims Steve Bruce is struggling to convince the defender to move to the Championship.
The report now claims West Ham are the favorites to wrap up the defender’s signing.
Should Jenkinson complete a move to the London stadium, it will be the fullback’s third loan spell at West Ham, having spent the last two seasons with the Championship club.
Jenkinson’s last loan spell at West Ham was caught short by a serious knee injury and could be open to a move to the East London side having enjoyed a relative successful loan spell with them in the past.
Jenkinson has featured just five times for Arsenal this season and he failed to impress to the extent he was even booed by Gooners in his last outing for the club.
It is unknown whether this loan move will be the beginning of the end of Jenkinson’s Arsenal career but with the presence of Hector Bellerin, I do not see his long term future at Arsenal unless he improves a lot between now and the end of the season.
