Arsenal Wenger and his men cruised to a comfortable 2-0 victory against Jurgen Kloop’s Borussia Dortmund side at the Emirates stadium Wednesday night in what a brilliant performance from the Gunners coming after a string of lackluster performance both domestically and in Europe.
But a first ever Arsenal goal for Yaya Sanogo just 2 minutes into the game and a brilliant 57 minutes strike from Alexis Sanchez was enough to put group D leaders Dortmund away. leaving Arsenal with a bit of hope to finally move to the top of the group should Kloop’s men loose their last game and Arsenal win their’s.
But until then, let’s rate the boys on their victory against the German side.
Martinez : 6
A better game from the youngster in comparison to his last time out. Kept us from going behind with a bold save.
Good forays in helping the attack in going forward. Also did his part in helping the defence.
Wasn’t really troubled as much as he would have expected from the game after the massive downpour of attacks in the first leg. Should not always look to the referee for handball situations before clearing his line. Had a good game still.
Just like his partner in defence; Mertesacker, Monreal wasn’t really troubled so much in the game and did well in the breaking up the few chances created by the German side.
Great game from the left-back. Made some exciting runs forward. constantly involved in most attacks from the left hand side. Also did his part in helping the defence.
Good game from Arteta. Imposed himself in the middle of the park. was rather too harsh with the tackle that led to his booking. Pity he picked up an injury.
His energy was visibly an addition to the midfield and his touches are getting better as well. Would be glad to see the Welsh back to his best in the coming weeks as well as in scoring terms again.
Much better in a central position. Provided assists for both goals in the match.
Good pace, dribbling and crashed a beautiful shot against the crossbar. Great game from the Ox. Unlucky to not have had his name on the score-sheet.
Sanchez 8 (MOTM):
Scored an absolute beauty of a goal. Curled a stunning shot in from 20 yards. His work rate is always top of the team as always this season. Great game from the Chilean.
Good game from the young Frenchman considering he is just coming of the back of an injury. Scored his first ever Arsenal goal just 2 minutes into the game.
