Arsenal will soon hold talks with midfielder Kelechi Nwakali about his future following his loan spell with Dutch side Maastricht.
According to reports, Arsenal midfielder Kelechi Nwakali is eager to hold talks with manager Arsene Wenger if he should start preparing for life at the Emirates next season.
Nwakali who turned 19 on the 5th of June, ended his loan deal at MVV Maastricht recently and he is expected to rejoin Arsenal but Wenger will have to decide if the former FIFA U-17 World Cup winner is ready to take the step up at the Emirates Stadium next season.
The player’s agent Olumide Olowu revealed that he will be opening talks with Wenger in the coming days on what the future holds for his client.
“The season just ended in Holland and all things being equal, Nwakali will first return to Arsenal now that the loan deal at MVV Maastricht has ended”
“We’ll be going into fresh talks with Wenger to know what the future holds for Nwakali. I hope the young man will return to Arsenal and continue to build his future there.”
The attacking midfielder was remarkable this season and was rewarded as he picked up the award as Arsenal’s best performing youth player this season, and won the Best Loanee award.
“Krystian Bielik was excellent for Birmingham City but in terms of performances throughout the season, this award deserves to go to Nwakali,” Jeorge Bird wrote on Kelechi.
“The Nigerian midfielder possessed no prior experience of European football, yet he quickly established himself as a regular for Maastricht in the Dutch second tier and frequently burst forward to excellent effect.’’
Nwakali beat the likes of Chuba Akpom and Aaron Eyoma, who spent the second half of this season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion and FC Volendam respectively.
