Arsenal have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam, with the club’s sporting director claiming he won’t be leaving Naples.
The left-back who is wanted by the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid as possible replacement for Nacho Monreal, Filipe Luis and Siquiera respectively, had been tipped to leave Napoli this summer, with reports according to the Metro even claiming that the Gunners had made a bid for him.
But those reports have been quashed after Cristiano Giuntoli told Calciomercato “Ghoulam will remain in Naples 100 per cent and will not move.
“Offers? Who would come forward? Arsenal and Atletico? Of course there are clubs interested in Faouzi, it is logical for a player of this value, but nothing more.
“If we got an offer we would take care to examine it and talk about it with the player. Ghoulam is an important player and will be one of the key elements on which Sarri count next season.”
Ghoulam though, is likely to be attracted by the opportunity to play in Champions League after Napoli failed to qualify – having finished outside the top four in the Serie A.
