West Ham have made an inquiry about the availability of Lucas Perez, according to reports.
The Spanish striker completed a £17m move to Arsenal last summer but life at the Emirates hasn’t turned out as he expected. He has struggled for game time since his summer move, only managing nine starts across all competitions.
The former Deportivo La Coruna man was expected to play a key role in Arsenal’s title challege this season but has found himself behind Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck in the pecking order.
He is now being linked with a move away from the Emirates and according to The Times via The Daily Cannon, West Ham have now registered their interest in the striker.
Bilic is a big fan of Perez and he is said to be confident of signing the striker who has been overlooked by Wenger on several occasions this season.
Perez has become unhappy with his situation at the Emirates and although his agent admitted he would stay here to fight for a place in the first team, I think he could leave if a good club comes calling for his services.
The striker was the subject of a £26m bid from an unnamed Chinese club in January and is sure to attract more suitors this summer.
Perez already has eight goals and five assists to his name despite his limited game time.
I don’t think there is any Gooner who would say he doesn’t deserve to be given more chances at Arsenal. I am not saying he should become the club’s first choice but at least be given a run of games as he deserves.
Should that not happen before the end of the season, there will be no shortage of offers for his services and we may rue losing him if he leaves.
