Tottenham Hostpur could rival Arsenal for the services of Max Allegri, according to reports.
Arsenal have reportedly lined up the Juventus manager as a replacement for Arsene Wenger whose future is still unresolved.
Over the last two months, it’s been reported that Arsenal hierarchy are actively discussing the possibility of hiring Allegri as our new manager but Calcio Mercato (via The Daily Star) has come up with an interesting twist.
The report claims Spurs are now monitoring the Italian’s availability.
Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino and our North London rivals could make a move for Allegri if their manager leaves.
Just like Spurs, it isn’t also certain that Arsenal will make an approach for Allegri this summer.
An Arsenal move for the Italian will depend on Wenger’s decision.
The Gunners’ preference is for Wenger to sign the new year contract extension he’s been offered and unless he doesn’t, a move for Allegri won’t be instigated.
However, Wenger is currently under pressure at Arsenal. A run of four losses in five league games has seen some fans turn against him, which could just force him to step down. And Gooners will definitely like the prospect of a proven manager like Allegri taking charge.
