Barcelona have been boosted in their efforts to sign Hector Bellerin after the Arsenal defender admitted missing his family in Catalunya and according to reports, manager Arsene Wenger already have a replacement for him in his ranks.
Bellerin has six years left on his deal with the Gunners after signing a long term contract meaning Arsenal will not be forced to sell this summer.
But talk of a reported £45m fee won’t go away, so would Wenger and the board consider cashing in on their asset? Yes, maybe!
Wenger switched to a 3-4-2-1 formation towards the end of the season – a formation which saw the Gunners go unbeaten till the end of the campaign, which resulted in Bellerin spending sometime on the bench as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was picked ahead of him in the right wing-back position.
Arsenal recently confirmed that they would offer Chamberlain a new contract with a significant increase to his £65,000-a-week salary, which the 23-year old is expected to sign in the coming days.
If Bellerin does head to Barcelona, Wenger could well do without the Spaniard due to his new 3-4-2-1 formation which any of Chamberlain or Theo Walcott could easily fill in.
What is your take on this Gooners, would it work or should Wenger do all he can to keep Bellerin?
