West Ham United are prepared to break its club record transfer fee to sign Olivier Giroud this summer.

Giroud is attracting interest from a number of clubs as Wenger ramp up his efforts to sign another striker. Many clubs believe Giroud could leave the Emirates if he feels he isn’t going to get regular game time next season and West Ham are one of the clubs waiting to snap up the 30 year old.

Marseille, Everton and Besiktas have all been credited with interests in the striker who won plaudits with his performances off the bench last season. However, it is West Ham who are pushing harder to sign the striker at the moment and The Telegraph claims Slaven Bilic is prepared to pay in excess of £20m to land his target, which will smash their club record for a transfer fee.

The Hammers are also prepared to increase Giroud’s current wages a little by offering him a contract worth £120,000 weekly.

However, they could struggle to convince Wenger to sell the striker. in an interview last week, Wenger urged Giroud to snub the advances of other clubs and with the player still having three years left in his contract, Arsenal know they are in a strong position to keep him.

Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas, whose club was linked with Giroud last week, yesterday confirmed that Arsenal don’t want to sell the striker and I think it’s going to be difficult for West Ham to convince Wenger into selling.

‘Arsenal want to keep [Giroud],’ Aulas said when asked about Lyon’s interest in the French striker.

Arsenal keeping Giroud as well as signing a new striker will be a masterstroke as the French man’s direct style of play and distinct attacking option would be a great option for us next season.

We are aware he wants to play more, I am sure he will get enough games to keep him happy if he continues to work hard for the team.
