Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny is reportedly on the verge of signing a new contract at Arsenal.
This is a bit surprising as Koscielny’s current contract is not expected to run out until 2019 while other players like Aaron Ramsey who is into the final 24 months of his contract and Santi Cazorla whose contract expires at the end of the current campaign are yet to be offered a contract extension.
According to French newspaper L’Equipe via The Daily Cannon, Koscielny is in line for a new deal that will keep him at Arsenal until 2020.
It is claimed everything hasn’t been sorted yet but talks are in advanced stage and there could be an official announcement in the coming days.
The new deal is expected to make the defender one of the highest paid players at the Emirates, only behind Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
Koscielny signed for Arsenal back in 2010 and if reports of the new deal are true, he is on course to spend a decade with us
I will be so delighted if the defender signs a new deal with us because he has been one of our best performers in recent years and I don’t think there is any player who has spent a decade at Arsenal since the days of the invincibles.
This is a big sign that things have changed at Arsenal and the days when we lost our best players now firmly behind us. Hopefully this will take us a long way to competing for Major titles which have also eluded us all these years.
Kos was heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window but this new deal will put an end to the reported interest in his services
