Reports in Italy are claiming Wojciech Szczesny is closing in on a move to Juventus.
Szczesny has been on a two-year loan at Roma where he has established himself as one of Serie A’s best goalkeepers. His impressive performances in the last two years have forced Juve to earmark him as a replacement to legendary goalkeeper Gianlungi Buffon.
And according to Tuttosport via The Daily Cannon, Juve are already close to signing Szczesny.
The report claim the goalkeeper has agreed a €4m-a-year deal with the Italian giants. He is now expected to complete a move to Turin later this summer for a fee of €15m.
While there is every likelihood that Szczesny will be leaving this summer, the surprising thing is that the report claims he has agreed to sit on Juventus bench until Buffon retires after the 2018 world cup.
The Poland international has stressed time without number that he wouldn’t return to the Emirates to sit on the bench, it is now surprising to hear he wants to stay behind buffon in Juventus pecking order.
Arsenal are in a weak position as regards Szczesny future because he has one year left in his contract and we can’t afford to keep him against his wishes and then lose him for free next year.
So the player has the decision to make. We’ll have to wait to find out what his plans are.
