Monaco have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez, according to Leicestermercury.com.

Last week, Mahrez revealed he wants to quit Leicester City for a bigger club as he attempts to take his career to the next level.

Arsenal were one of the first clubs to be linked with the winger, although we won’t be featuring in next season’s Champions League, we are touted as favorites to sign the Algeria international.

Wenger tried to sign the winger last summer but we were unable to convince him to leave the King Power stadium.

Despite signing a new deal just over a year ago, Mahrez wants to leave The Foxes this summer, in order to play regularly at the top level.

Leicester Mercury claim Arsenal and Monaco are the front runners in the race to sign the winger, with Bookmakers placing the duo at an odd off of 2/1 and 8/11 to sign the winger respectively.

The report also admitted he could stay at the King power with the winger placed at 2/1 to remain at the King Power stadium.

His club has slapped a £50m price tag on him and that may scare suitors especially as he failed to live up to expectations in the just concluded season.

Wenger may be in the market for a new playmaker if either Sanchez or Ozil leaves and Mahrez will be a great option for us.

The question now is whether Wenger fancy him enough to meet Leicester’s asking price.

Wenger could be reluctant to pay £50m for a player who has had just one brilliant season of Premier League football.

However, reports suggest the boss is keen on bringing in the Algerian and we may be in for a shock transfer for him.

Should Wenger go all out to sign Mahrez? Will he return to his best at Arsenal?
